Run Flat Tyres
Run flat tyres are specially designed tyres with reinforced sidewalls which allow them to continue to perform after air pressure has been lost. At Tallaght Tyres we provide new run flat tyres from a number of the world’s leading brands.
Run flat tyres provide security and the knowledge that should you suffer a puncture that you care will able to safely get you to a garage for repairs or replacement. A vehicle with run flat tyres can still cover a distance of up to 80 km at a speed of up to 80km/h (depending on load and vehicle and tyre brand, refer to manufacturer) after which the tyre would be rendered unsafe for further use. As run flat specialists we will be able to identify the extent of the damage and if the tyres can be repaired or if a replacement tyre is necessary.
Winter Tyres
Winter tyres are a must for every car and van to ensure safe driving in all weather conditions. At Tallaght Tyres, you will find high quality winter tyres from the most reputable manufacturers as well as expert advice on how to correctly maintain your winter tyres.
Winter tyres provide better safety and comfort than standard tyres on slush, ice, frost and even wet roads. In fact any time the temperature dips below +7 degrees centigrade, you’re better off on winter tyres. Major tyre manufacturers recommend changing to winter tyres between October and April as the average temperature drops below 7 degrees centigrade. At 7°C and below standard tyres begins to harden and loses grip. Winter tyres however remain flexible and ‘grippy’ even at low temperatures thanks to an optimised silica compound and a high proportion of natural rubber. A winter tyre will therefore key into the road surface and provide excellent grip, whereas the standard tyre will ride on the surface peaks.
